New Patient Appointment
What will happen in the appointment?
Your nails and skin will be examined and the various treatment options will be discussed. I will even tell you about treatment options that I don’t do in my clinic, so you can make a fully informed decision. You are not expected to decide there and then, you may wish to take some time to decide if you wish to treat the nails at a later date, and sometimes the decision may be no treatment at all!
If your nails are suitable for a mechanical reduction for comfort/aesthetic/medical reasons then this can be done for you during the appointment at no extra cost. This would need to be repeated, and the interval between appointments varies from person to person, but about 6-8 weeks seems to be the average time. This would cost £55 per ongoing appointment.
If your nails are suitable for a radical mechanical reduction so that a medicament can be applied, then this can also be done in this appointment. There is no extra cost for the reduction but the medicament cost will be in the ‘under £20’ price range, depending on the medicament recommended.
If you are suitable for the fenestration process, then this takes time to carry out so you will usually have to book a separate appointment to start this process. However, sometimes you may be able to start the treatment during this appointment. A top up payment of £30 would be due on the day. **This is only possible if the initial consultation has not used up much time; if there is sufficient time left in the appointment slot to carry out the work; and if only a few nails need treatment. The medicament cost will be in the ‘under £20’ price range, depending on the medicament recommended.
You will be told which medicament is best for you, these may be available to buy in clinic, if in stock, otherwise you will be able to buy these from any pharmacy.
