What will happen in the appointment?

Desiccation is the process of using a chemical to dry out the wart, the chemicals cause dehydration, desiccation and mummification of the cells containing the virus. Although suitable for everyone from 6 years of age, it tends to be recommended more for children, and older adults.

What is the treatment plan?

A treatment cycle involves 6 treatments at two week intervals. Dressings are usually not needed. Daily application of surgical spirit is required, and it is best to keep the area as dry as possible over the course of the treatment cycle, for example, no swimming.

How much does it cost?

Surgical Spirit for self care is available from any pharmacy and some supermarkets and is approximately £5-£10.
